We come from the land of the ice and snow....

....though perhaps not from the land of the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.... !

I thought I'd put this picture from the BBC website (in case you haven't seen it - if you are outside the UK it won't have been broadcast on your EVERY news bulletin) showing the UK under it's blanket of ice and snow.  It is a NASA picture and quite breathtaking I'm sure you'll agree?

I find myself at home again because of the weather - so am starting on a little mail art project I have decided to work on!  I'll post pictures when I have something to show - the final piece will include some of these flyagaric toadstools!  I have decided to make the piece to look like an illustration in a children's book!  Watch this space! x

  1. Hey Lesley, thanks for stopping by my blog. You have some amazing pieces yourself. To be honest I never could figure out water colours..but you make them look simple and beautiful! I hope I can try water colours some time and do a decent job of it..

  3. Yes, that NASA photo is really something. Who would have thought it! And your mushroom painting is really something too - so attractive. I guess they must be poisonous.....

  4. Brrr, we have unusually cold and snowy weather here too, even for Sweden (where the midnight sun does shine in some parts at least, however not this part of the year, it is quite the opposite).

I like the mushrooms, you really caught that "childrens book" quality! Nicely done!

  5. Love the children's book style you chose. These are very poisonous, but oh so cute. The Christmas stocking I needlepointed for my son shows one of these as an elfin home, with lighted windows and a door in the stem. :)

  7. Can't wait to see what you do! Love the mushrooms! Are you doing Mail Me Art? I am thinking about participating in that.

It has been a crazy winter hasn't it! I live in Texas where we normally stay in the 50s and 60s in winter. Not this year!

  10. I don't think I've ever seen the UK completely covered in white! Your mushrooms are poisonous but outstanding! Love the bright clear colors.
