I am spending my weekend producing Christmas cards. It's the first time I have done it in nearly twenty years! I have to say I have thoroughly enjoyed myself, I'll post some pics when all is finished. In the meantime, I have been flicking through my artwork and decided to post a couple more pictures.
The first one is a scan I made of one of my paintings which is now framed up and hanging on a wall. It is nearly ten years since I did it, but I still quite like it. I found the original picture in a magazine I think and really liked it. The credits for the original photograph are pencilled in at the bottom of the scan.
The second picture is a study of a beautiful pink, Himalayan Poppy. They grow in my garden - early summer and look fabulous for too short a time. I painted this during the summer (pre. this blog) but looking at it today I thought I might share it.
Right, I'm going to make tea and finish my cards. Then I will chill for the rest of the day. Proper job in the morning.....
Love that poppy! I can see why you liked the leaf photo too. Hmmm, yes those Christmas cards still need to be done. I'm quickly running out of time. Good reminder.
ReplyDeleteI'd say your art comeback is complete, with that poppy painting! Exquisite. Go for Photoshop Elements for your software editing (think of it as Photoshop Lite.)
ReplyDeletesimple GREAT! These are simple timeless piece, they will always look awesome, and I am surprised the colors stayed intact. I really like the way the poppy petals folded, and the colors around the leaf, and the water drops... speechless ^^
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the lovely comments, they are appreciated so much! x
ReplyDeleteLovely artwork. Where have you been hiding?
ReplyDeleteThank you too Lesley... running fingers through the fur ^^ Teeeheee... that's the same thing Tanna(my Fiancee)'s aunt said too when she saw my drawing of the horse...and she was rubbing the page over and over again and deep inside my heart stopped and went like "Nooooooooo" But I just smiled ^^ hahahaha... wonderful memory!
ReplyDeleteYou will have some spectacular Christmas cards this year, methinks! Love the colors. Show us some more?
ReplyDeleteHey, these are all great! You should be making some original cards and not just copying other peoples photos becasue you are just tooooo good! Take your own photos or set up a still life. I really love your sense of color and the soft feeling in your pieces. Will be back to see some more.
ReplyDeleteRevelle
Thank you everyone for your lovely comments!!...again! You are right about not just copying from other peoples photographs Revelle, I completely agree - rest assured only a couple of the pictures I have posted so far have been done that way!! The leaf, because I just loved the photograph when I came across it and also the creatures I did for possible Christmas card ideas. The others were were all studies from life. The image on the Christmas card I have made was I admit taken from pictures - it's a polar bear. There are no polar bears here in West Yorkshire!!! I will post that image very soon! Thanks everyone for all your encouragement.
ReplyDeleteJust discovered your blog and think your art work is fab! Hope you feel inspired enough by EDM to carry on. Love the Bamburgh drawing too, think you've captured it really well, I go there alot too as I"m so close. Great poppy too...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Love both the poppy and the leaf with reflections. Also, great Christmas card. Maybe we'll be able to see some more recents works!
